Constellation of Taurus is an original contemporary painting created with tempera and acrylic on canvas (50 × 35 cm). Inspired by Greek mythology, the constellation of Taurus, and the myth of Europa abducted by Zeus, this work develops a symbolist universe where stars, human and animal figures merge in a poetic vision of the cosmos. Its surface, worked like an ancient fresco, its mineral textures, and its deep palette create a contemplative atmosphere that blends contemporary art, celestial imagery, and the memory of myths. Between the night sky and the memory of myths, Constellation of Taurus evokes the encounter between the human and the cosmic.
A bull's silhouette emerges from the darkness like a celestial mountain. Its body seems composed of stardust, constellations, and ancient light. On its flank appears a luminous figure evoking Europa, the princess abducted by Zeus in his bull form. But here, the mythological narrative gradually fades, giving way to a more universal vision: that of a being traversing the paths of the heavens.
The figure ascends the animal's body as one follows a constellation. The stars become landmarks, language, and destiny. At the foot of the celestial giant, two small silhouettes recall the earthly origin of this story: the world of men, herds, and tales passed down for millennia beneath the starry vault.
Created with tempera and acrylic on canvas, the work is built up in successive layers to create the appearance of an ancient fresco. The mineral nuances, patina effects, and transparencies of the material give the impression of a rediscovered image, like a fragment of legend preserved by time.
This painting belongs to a series dedicated to flight, constellations, and founding myths. It explores how ancient stories continue to inhabit our imagination and connect the earth to the stars.
