Some cities express themselves through colors, and Venice is one of them.
Turning this painting in my hands, I remember the calm November air, the changing reflections, and the feeling that time flows differently on the water.
While I was painting, an old Venetian man stopped next to me, a rare sight in a city often overwhelmed by tourism.
He said to me softly:
"You have captured the colours of Venice, not as a visitor, but as if you had always known them. This façade has been here since the time of Christopher Columbus. It resembles Burano lace, doesn't it?"
And suddenly, I saw it too: the delicate shadows, the sculpted lines, the centuries pleated in the stone like threads of lace.
If this painting were a piece of music, how would you perceive it?
