With Healing of Light , Olga Kataeva-Rochford develops a poetic universe where gesture becomes repair and where light is patiently rebuilt.
At the heart of the composition, a winged figure, like an angel, leans over its wounded or unfinished wing. With an invisible thread, it sews stars one by one, as if to reconstruct an intimate constellation. The gesture is precise, slow, almost ritualistic. Each stitch connects, assembles, repairs.
Around the body, the stars are not merely elements of the sky: they become matter, fragments of light to be tamed. The wing, both shelter and extension of the body, evokes momentum, the desire for elevation, but also the fragility of this movement.
Created using linocut on tracing paper, this work plays with transparency and real light. The support allows daylight to pass through, extending the motif into space and reinforcing this impression of a living constellation.
In this series dedicated to flight and constellations, Olga Kataeva-Rochford explores a more internal dimension of her work: repairing, connecting, reinventing light. A sensitive metaphor for care, time, and transformation.
The contrast of black and white, the simplicity of the engraved line and the variations inherent in artisanal printing give each print a unique presence.
This original linocut is aimed at collectors of poetic contemporary art , lovers of symbolic prints and those sensitive to themes of light, repair and the imagination.
